“How do I start reading my bible and loving it?” This is a question I often get and so I’m going to share with you the different ways I think you can read your bible and not feel overwhelmed. Pick whichever you think works for you as an individual.
1) Read your bible through a one year bible plan or devotional that requires you to read scripture and provides explanations through different topics.
2) Read your bible chronologically so from Genesis to Revelation (In order).
3) Read your bible book-by-book in no exact order.
4) Read your bible through popular bible stories.
5) Read your bible through a personal challenge e.g 3 chapters in a day, 3 books a day, 7 books a week, bible in 40 days etc
6) Read your bible based on books with fewer chapter to books with more chapters.
7) Read your bible through a movie. This is an interesting idea but I believe Netflix has a movie titled “The Gospel of John” which is a direct audio of the book of John acted out as a movie. Pretty cool for both beginners and advanced bible scholars…don’t you think?
There are 60 books in the bible and almost half of them (27) have less than 10 chapters while about 10 more have less than 15 chapters. So you can even start with the books with 3 chapters if you like and you can start checking them off till you read your bible completely for the first time.
Now I have purposely gone to each book to see how many chapters are there to make it easier for anyone who decides to do a personal bible challenge. If it seems overwhelming for you at first but pick books with very few chapters to start and I assure you you’ll feel a lot better being able to read about 3 bible books a day as a beginner and find out that it’s not that bad after all.
Now after a while of studying God’s word and pressing into him more, In addition try to;
1) Read your bible based on the leading of the Holy Spirit.
2) Memorize scripture because the word of God is our weapon of warfare, revelation, and our sword in every facet of life.
