Obedience

April 2, 2014

Obedience is the number one key to walking with God, hearing from Him and letting Him direct you. Most times we limit God who knows the end from the beginning. We often think we can have it our way but the truth is: only God gives clear foresight.

For God to trust us and rely on us, we must learn to say no to some stuff; to be obedient to His will and His word.

Matthew 26:41 says Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

We must learn to love God with all our hearts because only then can we live uncompromisingly for Him in true obedience.

One bible verse I love so much is Galatians 1:10. It says: Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.

People often ask me “oh how do you hear from God?” or “Why doesn’t God talk to me?” but the truth is when God talks to you, are you listening? Do you make out time to actually sit in His presence, just you and Him, no distractions? Do you actually do His will or do you choose to go your own way? Are you living by God’s direction even though your friends don’t get it or it doesn’t make sense to your family?

We have to get to a point in our lives where we put God FIRST. At the end of the day, all things work together for good for those who love Him and so God wouldn’t direct you to a path of destruction.

Obedience is very powerful. For God to be a able to depend on you, it’s powerful. Obedience is the difference between you and that “holier than thou” brother or sister that you think is “God’s favourite”.

1 Samuel 15:22 says : But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.

You can fast for 100 days with no food or water but if you don’t obey God’s commands, instructions and word, you are wasting time.

We shouldn’t obey only at times when it is convenient for us. It might not make sense now but it will later and you’ll be glad if you obeyed.

1 Corinthians 1:27 says Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.

If God lays it on your heart and speaks to you to leave a relationship, quit a job, start a business, start a fast, speak to a person, change your ways, anything! It’s only for the good of you and your purpose.

Obedience changes us, it changes our situation. It develops our relationship with God. It makes God trust us. It saves us from making mistakes. It makes God reveal more of Himself to us. He makes us able to hear God’s voice. It takes us to our destiny and purpose. It shapes us to become who we were created to be and to do what we were created to do.

What has God been telling you that you have been ignoring up till today? Obey.

God bless you!

Love,
A.
